Peony
History and Lore
Peony is considered one of the most pivotal and important cats on all of the channel, and no matter how long Apoinsettia rescues, feeds, and makes content, this cat will remain a heart of the channel.
Peony was first discovered with her two kittens Cookies and Cream who were only months old at the time, and were about the size of Apo's hand. He fed them to find out the kittens were somewhat social and trusted him enough to eat around him, with Apo even able to pet Cookies. Peony was watchful, and although shyer than her children, was still present. Apoinsettia scouted nearby buildings he joked with a friend would have cats, only to find out her was right. Apoinsettia would later find another kitten months older from a different litter by the name of Milkshake.
Cookies and Cream would be later be taken for Apoinsettia to rescue and required socialization, and would be considered his first real rescues. Peony was neutral about her kittens being taken, and some time later, Apo would return to take Milkshake indoors as she would become pregnant. In all this, Peony remained outdoors, and although Cookies and Cream turned into very social kittens, and Milkshake was always kind and affectionate even outdoors, Peony was always somewhat skittish and only recently allowed pets.
This led to a brief period in which Peony was the only notable cat left behind, to which Apo would check on her regularly as she was not far from him, and was a cat he enjoyed spending time with. She lived with a high population with raccoons that she tolerated.
Peony then gave birth to another whole litter of five kittens, which Apoinsettia found in a bush in her colony. These kittens would be known as The Flowers, which would be the first group of newborn kittens Apo worked with. These kittens would be taken with Peony, who nursed them and an additional kitten named Marshmallow who would be a part of the family. Peony nursed them until they were old enough to be adopted out, to which each and every one of them were.
Peony was initially returned to her outdoor environment. She opened up incredibly well indoors, and enjoyed pets and the presence of certain people, but could quickly switch on people she didn't know well, and did not like other animals. At some point she even attacked Zircon, Arrow’s personal cat Soka who wandered into the room in a quick brawl. If she was taken to a shelter, she could face being put down or tossed aside, so Apo wanted to make sure she was nearby and comfortable in her home. People who worked where Peony lived loved her, and met Apo to share stories of her, and how they adopted some of her other kittens, including an orange tabby kitten that came from the same litter as Milkshake.
Although Peony spent more time outdoors, she was friendlier than ever. This caught the attention of a fellow feeder Apo knew, the same feeder who helped get him a playpen for Cookies and Cream which helped them become social. She randomly came across her one day, which is coincidental as she had met the kittens. Peony would be taken in, and eventually brought on transport up north to where she too found her home, just like her kittens.
Apoinsettia wanted to keep Peony as he had worked with her for so much and knew her well, and hoped to do so when he got out of his home. Peony was taken up north before he could, which he was still grateful for.
Personality
Peony went through many phases, such as her initial appearance being skeptical and anti-social, who watched Apo from afar, and was even difficult to get on a livestream. Through time, Peony became one of the most affectionate cats on the channel. Although when first brought indoors, she was hissy and was shown to hiss quite often, she never struck or hurt anyone. This hissing would fade overtime, and would turn into chirps and even her jumping and leaning into pets just like her son, Cream, who Apo has maintained was his favorite rescue.
She does not seem to like other cats, including an incident where a new cat was seen by the name of Olivia.
She is not very vocal.
Appearance
Peony is a tortoiseshell, known for her beauty. She has striking green eyes that has appeared in many of her children, but most prominent in Milkshake. She has almost a half and half face, with a smaller amount of orange on one side.
