Pedicure is somewhat of a mystery. The first encounter with a young calico cat appearing at the The Fire Station Subcolony was during a hurried stream in January 2023 where she didn't even appear on cam. Not much was thought of it at first. However, as reported by another feeder and on the second meeting, through the perspicacious viewers, it was noticed that something on her paw showed a peculiar thing. Reviewing screenshots ruled out that it wasn't a wound. Rather, it was more than likely a nail cap. Nail caps are applied with glue as a covering on cat's claws which still provide full range of motion, but prevent the cat from doing any damage through scratching humans, other pets, or inanimate objects. This one nail cap being present surely would not be present on a street cat, leading to the likelihood that she was once someone's pet. Whether she was intentionally left as a drop-off or had gotten lost remains to be solved. Work is ongoing to search for and reconnect with any potential owners or rescue Pedicure from the street to a new adopter.
Pedicure was named via a Twitch chat poll with the name coming from channel VIP Floogames, who was the first ever channel viewer to adopt from the Kit Crew rescue (having adopted Fidget aka Wednesday). The name was a clear reference to the nail cap present on her paw.
Although Pedicure was likely someone's pet, attempts to find a former owner proved to be fruitless with no one coming forward to claim her. Apoinsettia had plans to take Pedicure in, yet in early May 2023, the other colony caretaker would reach out that she had taken her in, referring to her as "Bella". Pedicure adapted well to being indoors as suspected and was adopted in August 2023.
Personality
Pedicure is a very friendly cat. Though initially skittish, the other feeder had reported of her friendly nature and willingness to readily enter an open car door. Upon the third meeting, this was confirmed, with Pedicure climbing into Apoinsettia's car, sitting on his lap and exploring the car. He demeanor is clearly that of a house cat that was once a pet and would do well to be in a home again.
Appearance
Pedicure is a calico cat which appears quite skinny and petite. She appears young, but it isn't clear whether her build is slight or of she is underweight from living on the street. Pedicure does not have an ear notch, but it is possible she may have been spayed prior to her life on the street.
