Magic Mike
History & Lore
Magic Mike, commonly referred to as "Mikey", is a rescue kitten that was received from a neighborhood where residents noticed a kitten unable to walk. When he first arrived, it was apparent that there were some medical concerns with his mobility and clearly impaired use of his hind legs. He had little control of his back legs and led to him dragging his lower half of his body. It would be the first kitten on the channel to possess such a serious concern, and Apoinsettia had wanted to take the kitten to a more experienced rescue. Sadly, every rescue was at capacity. After some x-rays confirmed there were no broken bones in the hind legs, Magic Mike seemed to have a case of Swimmer's Syndrome.
Over a relatively short amount of time with proper care and effort, Magic Mike showed significant signs of improvement and increased mobility to be on a track toward fully overcoming the Swimmer's Syndrome. The methods included a lot of activity and towels to give him a great grip on the floor, helping him practice. See a video introducing him to the Twitch channel here.
Due to the prominent case of Swimmer's Syndrome , Twitch chat wanted to name him after renowned swimmer Michael Phelps. Informally, he was known simply as Mikey, yet a formal poll was conducted where Magic Mike (a nod also to his miraculously quick improvement as well as DJ Magic Mike) would solidify his name.
Personality
Magic Mike is considered one of the friendliest kittens on the channel. Mikey was so friendly it seemed to improve his health concerns as he would put extra effort into moving towards a person and display affection. He is a loud purrer, and enjoys playing with the other cats.
Appearance
Magic Mike is a white and grey tabby, with white being the most prominent color on him. He has a marble pattern on the small amount of tabby coating he has..
