DaisyMae
History and Lore
DaisyMae is a cat that was rescued from The Roundabout Colony along with her kittens Acorn, Tempest, and Drizzle.
When Apoinsettia was exploring an area of the Roundabout colony not visited for some time, quite a number of cats were found present, curiously living quite harmoniously alongside several raccoons underneath some shipping containers. To quite some surprise, kittens were spotted under one container, somewhat separated from the other group. Upon closer inspection, three kittens were found along with their young mother. The mother who would later be named DaisyMae (the name being suggested by long time channel supporter TheGracefulPanda and voted on by Twitch chat), was reported by the main feeder to have only first been seen about two months prior.
The timing in happening upon DaisyMae and her kittens spurred a dilemma. Hurricane Ian was only days away from making landfall with the expected trajectory putting her small kittens in peril. With the rescue operation at home already at capacity including some with an outbreak of ringworm and a recently convalescing snowshoe siamese already relegated to the bathroom, space was scarce. Yet ensuring the health and safety of all the cats was a top priority. Apoinsettia was determined to rescue the kittens, returning the next night to trap them.
DaisyMae wasn't initially going to be trapped as the kittens seemed to have weaned and old enough to be on their own. However with the impending storm, she was trapped as well and used to help lure the last kitten remaining, Drizzle. The plan was to TNR DaisyMae, however it was soon apparent that she was shockingly friendly and open to human interaction and affection, making her a great candidate to be adopted.
Personality
As mentioned, upon bringing DaisyMae home following the rescue, she was clearly a very warm and affectionate cat. It's been speculated that she could have been an unspayed drop-off who had once been a pet. It's quite unusual for a stray to be so human-oriented so fast. In fact, DaisyMae seemed to be by far the friendliest stray mom encountered on the channel.
However, after a couple of weeks after being taken in, in a surprising character arc, DaisyMae seemed to turn rather aggressive with her own kittens. The interaction between them has been closely monitored and safety of all the cats ensured while under the KitCrew Rescue protection.
Appearance
DaisyMae is a grey tabby with white on her underside. Her tabby markings are somewhat muted and her grey coloration has very little brown. She also has a bright pink nose and yellow eyes.
