Baboushka

From Apoinsettia

History and Lore

Baboushka would be one of the first cats to be seen at The Hideaway Subcolony, and would be the second cat named in the subcolony.

Despite being known for slightly over a year; Baboushka would never be pet. This would be confirmed by the business that primarily took care of Baboushka. Despite this, he was able to be easily approached and enjoyed eating in the presence of Apo.

As of October 2022, Baboushka would noticeably have a swollen stomach and would not be seen for the following Sundays. It would not be long after that Hopscotch would be found injured that Apoinsettia would be able to get in contact with the property to learn more extensively about the cats. They had referred to Baboushka as "Jakey" and had cared for him for years as he was believed to be an elder cat before he would contract Feline Infectious Perionitis (FIP) which has a very poor survival rate and would be euthanized surrounded by those who loved him and took care of him.

The name JJ was used by the property to refer to Hopscotch, which would stand for "Jakey Junior" and serve as a continuation of Jakey/Baboushka's memory.

Personality

Baboushka was a unique middle between approachable, and skittish. While they can approach and eat in front of Apoinsettia, they still require time to open up and is often not the first to eat, watching from the fence.

They were very kind with the other cats; and was most typically seen with Cinnamon "The Whale" Swirl most times, who both were quite affectionate with each other.

Appearance

Baboushka was the only longhair cat in the Hideaway. They were slightly skinny with a long face with sharp ears. Their gender however, was unknown due to their longhair and their stand-offish personality for some time, but later was found to be male. Their white bib extends to their underside and can be considered a medium hair by some.

Relations

  • Baboushka tolerated seemingly all the cats they live with.
